The eight o'clock patient is seated and the X-ray will not open.

The server, sensors and practice software have to work together. We start with which software you run and what it is connected to. When the imaging vendor points back at the practice software, we call both.

Ask one IT question

We work for you.

Our managed IT has no long-term contract and no onboarding fee, and clients stay for decades anyway.

Our clients' systems are watched around the clock by a staffed security operations center, every day of the year. Very few IT companies offer that to a small business, and we do.

We do not advertise and we do not do hard sells. Almost every client has been with us more than ten years. Most have been with us about twenty.

We resell nothing and take no vendor commissions, so nobody pays us to recommend their product.

Within our scope, we document the domains and administrative accounts your business controls. That documentation is yours whenever you want a copy, including when you leave.

AI that works in your practice

We can build tools that flag treatment diagnosed but never scheduled, and draft claim narratives from the chart. Built to run locally, the AI works on a computer in your office, so patient records are not sent to an outside AI company. The tools produce drafts, and your team reviews and sends them.

Texas now requires telling patients when AI is used in their care, and we help you write that notice. How we build it →

The chart opens. The image does not.

A dental operatory between patients: an empty chair, an arm-mounted monitor showing indistinct pale shapes, a rolling instrument cabinet, and a network faceplate with a cable running down the wall.

Your assistant reseats the cable, moves the patient to the operatory next door and asks the front desk to move the next appointment. Nobody has touched a tooth.

The practice software vendor says the imaging bridge is fine. The imaging vendor says the sensor tests good on their bench. Both can be right while your patient is still waiting.

The hardware details matter. Patterson recommends Intel USB chipsets for Schick digital X-ray devices and says ScanX will not work with the SIS chipset. Two workstations bought a year apart are not the same computer, so check the chipset before you buy a replacement.

The same requirements recommend a dedicated Eaglesoft server at six or more workstations. Patterson does not support Eaglesoft server setups on a domain controller or any Patterson software running in a virtual machine.

Check the cloud fit from the operatory

Open Dental Cloud lists a minimum connection of 20 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up. Its fit guidance names latency below 30 milliseconds to at least one data center as a good-fit condition. Above 50 milliseconds with its data centers, the vendor says it may not be a good fit.

That guidance also describes a practice whose separate imaging software does not need to be hosted by Open Dental. Ask where your images will live and how the operatory will reach them. Moving the appointment book does not settle the imaging question.

The claim needs that image too

The radiograph, perio chart or narrative has to get out of the clinical record and onto the claim. Clicking Send does not tell you whether that handoff worked.

We trace the route with your billing person and the vendor: which claim needs the file, whether the attachment tool can reach it, and what comes back. Your team decides what the claim should say.

For a specialist, the referral, inbound images, tracings and report owed to the referring dentist belong in the recovery plan too. An appointment book alone cannot put that case back together.

Restore the practice, including the images

Open Dental stores scanned and imported files in its A to Z folders, separately from the patient database. A database backup alone does not cover both. We keep backups separate and run the restore instead of relying on the report.

Agree on the recovery order while the schedule is running: how patients will reach you, how the doctor will open charts and perio, and how staff will get radiographs for people already in chairs.

Then decide when claims and attachments need to resume, and what can wait. Those are practice questions that a green backup light cannot answer.

What clients say

My law firm and our title company have had the benefit of over 20 years of excellent computer service from B Dunn. Evenings, weekends, holidays, we call and have prompt response and any necessary adjustments and repairs are handled. Highest recommendation.

Kim T.

Billy Dunn and his partners have been our saviors in many situations. The Dunn's always answered every call we made whether it was an Emergency or one of us goofing something up. The BDunn & Company has been a very important factor that allowed our company grow for the past 20+ years.

Which operatory has the sensor nobody trusts?

Ask us anything. One IT question, answered straight, no charge and no pitch.

It might be a claim waiting on a radiograph or a backup nobody has restored. Send us whichever problem keeps coming back.

Do you already have someone doing your IT? Ask anyway. If they have it handled, that is what you will hear.
