We check the connections your filing workflow depends on and test recovery before the season starts. When tax software support blames the hosted desktop, we make the next call.
Our managed IT has no long-term contract and no onboarding fee, and clients stay for decades anyway.
Our clients' systems are watched around the clock by a staffed security operations center, every day of the year. Very few IT companies offer that to a small business, and we do.
We do not advertise and we do not do hard sells. Almost every client has been with us more than ten years. Most have been with us about twenty.
We resell nothing and take no vendor commissions, so nobody pays us to recommend their product.
Within our scope, we document the domains and administrative accounts your business controls. That documentation is yours whenever you want a copy, including when you leave.
Virtual Office CS runs applications remotely but still has requirements for the scanner and printer on your desk. The documents are ready and the client is waiting, but nothing moves until those pieces work together.
Knowing who owns the software helps when support starts passing you around. CCH ProSystem fx, CCH Axcess and ATX belong to Wolters Kluwer. Lacerte, ProSeries and ProConnect are Intuit products. Thomson Reuters bought SafeSend in January 2025.
For systems in our scope, we take the problem up with the hosting provider and software vendor, then tell you what we find. In March, that afternoon should not belong to the person about to file.
We also restore onto a spare machine and open the tax data, accounting files and document platform. Anything missing, or back in an order the firm cannot work in, goes in your report.
Intuit ended support for older versions such as QuickBooks Desktop 2023 after May 31, 2026. Those versions no longer receive critical security updates. Desktop 2023 lost bank feeds, emailed forms and reports, the Accountant Copy Transfer Service, and credit card and check processing. It also stopped automatically calculating payroll taxes or providing payroll tax forms.
Recurring payments continue processing, but you manage them through MerchantCenter rather than inside that file.
We check the version machine by machine. You get a list of which workstations have lost which services and what each needs. That list is what we price the move from.
Thomson Reuters says support and updates end after December 31, 2027, and it cannot guarantee perpetual access afterward. It recommends moving the documents before that date.
Get the export format in writing, and ask whether the client folder structure survives it. Loose PDFs without that structure are a different project from an export that keeps it.
If you reach FileCabinet CS through Virtual Office, the same article says that with an expired license, you lose access when the application automatically updates to the next version.
IRS Publication 5708 explains the written information security plan requirement for tax practices, regardless of size. It offers a starting template, but your WISP must fit your firm's work and risks. A sole practitioner can use a simpler plan than a larger firm.
We put in and document the technical controls for the systems we manage. What the plan says, and who answers for it, stays with your firm and its advisers.
Ask us anything. One IT question, answered straight, no charge and no pitch.
Which scanner, login or computer would hold up a return if it quit in March? Send us that one.
Do you already have someone doing your IT? Ask anyway. If they have it handled, that is what you will hear.
